***** Total raised £10,404.08 *****
I still find it hard to believe the events of the last couple of weeks in Ukraine. Just when we thought the world was returning to some level of normality, we have descended into further depths of despair at man’s inhumanity to their fellow human beings.
A very dear friend of mine, who has relatives in Ukraine has donated her sizable bead stash in the hope that we can raise funds for the amazing work that is being carried out by the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal
Over the coming weeks we will be adding lots of Kumihimo Kits, Swarovski Crystals, beads mixes and groups of beads – please do keep coming back to this page to see what we have added
Ukraine fundraiser Update - 22/06/24
I recently went to my 40th School reunion and met up with an old friend. It turns out that she is a self-funded humanitarian aid volunteer in the Kherson region of Ukraine where fighting is still ongoing. She has recently built and installed a 'mobile' school and library in one of the frontline villages. All recreation centres have either been destroyed or closed there so she is desperate to help alleviate the stress and anxiety of the current situation which is leading to widespread demoralisation and depression.
To that end we had a chat about the few remaining kits that I had left from the fundraiser. These have been packed up along with sets of disks and bobbins and are now wending their way to London where they will be on the back of her truck when she goes back in August. I really hope that they will help raise the spirits of those left in these perilous regions and if nothing else will give them something to smile about.
Just a few facts from the fundraiser. We raised an amazing total of £10,404.08 that has been donated to DEC. This was raised from some 1350 items of which 306 were kits, 92 were PDFs and 435 were sets of Swarovski crystals. There were only 24 kits left so you, my friends, truly are an amazing group of people and I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this happen.
